Astrid Lundbye Sinclair Wollenberg January 6, 1932 – September 2, 2026

Astrid Lundbye Sinclair Wollenberg, 94, passed away peacefully at her home in Santa Rosa, California, on September 2, 2026.

Having attended twelve schools across the country before graduating high school, Astrid grew up adaptable and resilient. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Bard College and later received her master’s degree from San Jose State University.

Astrid settled in Sonoma, California, where she raised her family and spent over thirty years as an English teacher and Department Chairperson at Sonoma Valley High School. A true trailblazer, she founded the school’s AP English program and advised the creative writing club, leaving a lasting legacy on generations of students.

Alongside her husband, Albert Wollenberg, Astrid co-owned Wagon Wheel Ranch, where they bred, raised, and showed award-winning cutting horses. Her passion for equestrian life became a cherished family tradition passed down to her children and grandchildren.

Fiercely smart, curious, and independent, Astrid lived comfortably in her own home until her passing. She stayed deeply engaged with the world—immersed in literature, science journals, current events, and fashion—always accompanied by an overflowing "to-be-read" stack and her trademark sharp wit.

Astrid was preceded in death by her husband, Albert, and her grandson, Kellan.

She is survived by her four daughters: Tryna, Jorunn, Gina (husband Mike), and Shannon (husband Duane); her grandchildren, Lauren (husband Tyler) and Tanner (wife Paige); her close friends, and beloved animals.
