PCCHA Announces Strategic Pause for the 2026 PCCHA Holy Cow Performance Horses Futurity, Sets Sights on an Even Bigger 2027 Event
After extensive planning and careful consideration, the Pacific Coast Cutting Horse Association has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2026 Holy Cow Performance Horses Futurity in Las Vegas.
While this was not the outcome the Association had hoped for, the decision reflects PCCHA's unwavering commitment to protecting the long-term strength of the organization and ensuring that every major event delivers the exceptional experience our exhibitors, owners, sponsors, and members deserve.
"Our Board and Executive Committee explored every possible avenue to make this event happen," said PCCHA President Brent Erickson. "Unfortunately, unprecedented challenges with cattle availability and pricing, combined with scheduling limitations beyond our control, made it impossible to produce the quality Futurity our competitors have come to expect without significantly increasing costs. That simply wasn't a compromise we were willing to make."
Rather than asking exhibitors to absorb dramatically higher expenses or moving forward with an event that didn't meet PCCHA's standards, the Executive Committee chose to make the responsible decision to pause this year's Futurity and focus its efforts on delivering an outstanding event in 2027.
The Association is already looking ahead with enthusiasm.
By redirecting resources originally allocated for the 2026 Futurity, PCCHA will be able to invest even more into next year's event through expanded promotion and advertising, enhanced exhibitor experience, and additional opportunities for sponsors and industry partners. The extra planning time also provides the flexibility to secure the quality cattle, scheduling, and event structure that competitors expect from one of the West Coast's premier cutting horse events.
Our goal is to come back with a Futurity that reflects the quality, integrity, and professionalism our members deserve. We believe 2027 has the potential to be one of the most exciting Futurities PCCHA has ever produced.
PCCHA extends its heartfelt appreciation to our Futurity title sponsor, Holy Cow Performance Horses, the Association's multitude of generous sponsors, exhibitors, owners, show staff, and loyal members for their continued support and understanding throughout this process.
Although the 2026 Holy Cow Performance Horses Futurity will not take place, PCCHA remains fully committed to providing first-class events and continuing to grow the sport of cutting throughout the West. Planning for the 2027 Holy Cow Performance Horses Futurity is already underway, and the Association looks forward to sharing exciting updates in the months ahead.
