Scholarship Distribution Program

The PCCHA youth scholarship program was started in 1996 for the purpose of raising funds to assist PCCHA youth members in achieving their educational goals through scholarship awards. Since then, over $650,000 has been raised and approximately $430,000 has been awarded to its youth members in the form of scholarships, awards and youth cutting clinics conducted by high ranking Pacific Coast trainers. There have been 63 youth members attend college with assistance from the scholarships awarded from this program.

The funds raised at the PCCHA Youth Auction during the Roundup in march 2013, will contribute to the overall success of the program in providing opportunities to PCCHA Youth Members by awarding scholarships at the Latigo Canyon Ranch Invitational youth cutting, and to the top ten riders in the the year-end standings. Non-competition grants are also available via the Inez Mabie scholarship program, applications are due by August 1st of each year. These grants are awarded based on the members excellence in academics, involvement in cutting, contribution to community and need for financial assistance to complete their education. In addition to the above, a new program introduced in 2012 is the Kellan Ward Memorial Scholarship program which will award grants for "on the job training", internship programs, etc. for select career choices.

Qualifying shows: Top three places from AZCHA Wild West Scholarship cutting-2/23/13; Top three places from the Centennial Livestock Youth Scholarship Cutting held at the Holy Cow Roundup 3/17/13; Top three places PCCHA scholarship Youth Day (TBA) 6/2/13; top three PCCHA Core Blance Derby tentative -6/16/2103; top three from the 2013 point year standings 6/1/2012 to 5/31/2013.

      First through third places plus ties in Junior and Senior

5.  PCCHA 2013 Top Ten- 6/1/12 to 5/31/13 
     Top three positions in both Junior and Senior standings.

 
Rules for alternate slots in the event of duplicate or scratched qualifiers:

In the event of positions open due to “duplicate qualifying” or “qualifiers that decline to compete at the Invitational”, those positions may be filled with competitors who placed in the following shows up to 4th place; or are listed in the PCCHA Year-End standings up to 10th place as of May 31, 2013.

Open slots will be filled in the following order:

1.  Take the next eligible competitor(s) in the PCCHA 2013 point year to 5^th place as of 5/31/13.    

2.  Take the 4th place competitor at Centennial Livestock Cutting at the Holy Cow Roundup

4.   Take the 4th place competitor at PCCHA Core Balance Derby

5.  Take the 4th place competitor at the PCCHA Youth Day Show #1 AZCHA Wild West

6.  Take the 4^th place competitor at the PCCHA Youth Day Show #2 NCHA Weekend

7.  Take the next eligible competitor(s) in the PCCHA 2013 point year standings up to10th pl.
